Facebook, Twitter not nearly done yet.

Facebook, Twitter not nearly done yet.

I get really tired of reading posts from different bloggers or having conversations with “online professionals” about both these Social Networks “futures” …. “bleeding users” in one case (Facebook), “will never be mainstream” in another (twitter.)

PLEASE JUST STOP. All you need is one tool to dismiss these opinions… Google Trends.

Facebook:

Twitter:

In Comparison (to some websites whose deaths everyone can agree on)

MySpace:

Friendster:

Not only are both Facebook and Twitter going strong and both still being widely adopted… they are not done yet… nowhere close. You should also compare the growth curves to these sites to others… while their rise may seem “rapid” in reality and in relation to other previously massively popular sites… their growth is “slow, steady, sustainable.”
